Warning : Content is Gross

Disclaimer - this is NOT me!

This will be short.   And I can't believe I'm even telling you.  It's very embarrassing.   But I haven't shaved my legs in about three weeks.  I know.   It's gross.   You see, we have one bathroom.   We have six adults temporarily living in our home (3 adult children and one spouse, plus, of course, me and my husband).   That means six showers a day.   Not to mention Little Boy.   He takes a bath every night.   Our hot water heater tries to keep up.   Sometimes successfully, sometimes not.   I, being the very considerate person that I am, try to get in and out as quickly as possible because I know there is always someone waiting . . . or a dishwasher that needs to be turned on . . . or laundry that needs to be done.   All of this takes water.   Hot water.   So I do the most important things - - like washing hair and body.   And I tell myself that I will come back in later to shave my legs.   Later hasn't happened in three weeks.  It's a good thing I'm not a swimsuit model.

And the only reason I tell you this is because I lay awake a lot of the night thinking about it.   It's just gross.   And really uncomfortable.    I don't know how those European women do it.

So, tonight I will be selfish.  I will take ten extra minutes in the bathroom . . . and I will shave my legs.   I am woman.  Hear me roar - probably because I feel like a wild animal.

  2. hahahahaha - I pretty much go all winter without shaving my legs. Now I wouldn't go wearing a dress (with or without hose) but still. I like to horrify my 16 year old niece by yanking up my pants legs once in a while to show her.

  3. Loved the posting. I have to admit though when I first saw the pic I thought it was my 6th grade teacher Mrs. Smith. :)

  4. Those look like my legs, except I would never wear those shoes. "Gross" is in the eye of the beholder.

  5. Don't blame you! When I had Aubrey and for awhile after, because of my c section recovery, I couldn't shave my legs. And I felt so icky no matter how often I showered.

  7. When there's no hot water, I just sit on the tub and get it over in cold water really quick. I cannot .. stand my legs unshaved. I have no idea why . It just drives me bananas.

Ok. Enough about my shaving habits.

  8. I remember those days well .. the smooth feel of hairless skin and those lovely nicks from the sharp razor... about 12 yrs ago I had all the unnecessary hair lazered off .. legs, under arms, bikini ... always hair free now and no nicks!

  9. I remember the elders calling women's legs gorilla legs in Venezuela. When I was in Margarita with Sister Hunt, we were kind of house bound while she waited to get her visa renewed. We had a contest to see who could go the longest without shaving our legs. She wasn't as enthusiastic about it as I was. Neither one of us lasted very long.

    1. Not much to do when you're housebound :) Were you and Sis Renteria ever companions?

    2. She was my companion in the MTC and then again in Caracas.

    3. That's right - I think I broke you up when I was transferred to Caracas :(

  10. That was a hilarious post!!!! Hey you'd fit right in out in California, esp. Berkeley. Sometimes I felt like the only woman who DID shave her legs & pits when I went to Dead shows out there.

  11. I sometimes go weeks at a time in the winter and only to the knee if I do. In the summer it might be every 2 days or so. I agree it is a time waster and my husband couldn't care less.
My sister shaves every single day. Legs, pits and arms and puts lotion on every inch of skin. Even when she was in labor. Crazy.
Don't feel bad, you are lucky to get a hot shower!

  12. What a full house you have!! That was kind and considerate for you to try to get out of the bathroom as quick as you can :)

Confession time here, when we lived in Montana I never shaved my legs the whole winter. I think the hair helped keep my warm :)

  13. I wouldn't bat an eyelash if it was the middle of winter, but we are in sketchy shorts, or capris at the least, season! Two words...electric razor!

  14. Glad you're taking your 10 minutes - enjoy! I have awarded you the Kreativ Blogger award, it will be posted on my site in the morning. Congrats!

  15. Glad you took time for yourself to do this... not that I have anything against those who choose not to shave. But if that's what you wanted, I'm happy!

  16. At least you can wear pants. If I'm not careful about waxing my face, I look like Planet of the Apes.

  17. Hi, Judy! Thanks for visiting me earlier!

I can go weeks in the winter without shaving my legs. But my pits? Nope...those I've got to do all the time, year round, no matter what! I cannot stand having hairy pits, even if my husband is the only one who sees them on a regular basis. Hairy pits give me the willies.

  18. Been there! One bathroom and being the mom means I willingly take the shorter, colder shower....

  19. When Annie went through a period of no shaving, I was thrilled. Very sexy.

  21. I was on my way out the door for a massage and I ran back in. My daughter wanted to know why. I told her I had to shave my legs. No way was I going to have someone else touch those hairy things. She laughed. I shaved.
I also hate the way it feels against the sheets.

  22. HA! The older I get, the less hair there is, so shaving is less frequent. I love this!! You'd think after hundreds of years of women shaving their legs, we would be morphed out of hairy legs by now. I live in FL, so I'm in shorts year round. I'm a sticker about shaved arm pits...can't STAND nubby pits. :-)

  23. I have had to get out of bed at 3-4 am to shave my legs! I can't stand the creepy crawly feeling if the stubble gets long.
