We'll Always Have Paris

(This was written yesterday afternoon - - )
I love trivia.   And I like movies.     And these last 20 minutes of work are killing me, so I decided to get on the internet (in my defense, I did come in an hour early and worked through my lunch, so I'm not really being a bad employee :)).   Anyway, I was looking up some quotes from movies.  I was surprised at how many I didn't know.  Some went all the way back to the 30s.   Classics.  Some were really really easy.    So, since I'm at a loss as to what to write about today, I am going to give you a movie quote quiz.

Do you know what movies these quotes come from?  Do not cheat!

1.   What we've got here is failure to communicate.
2.   They call me Mr. Tibbs.
3.   You can't handle the truth!
4.   I'll have what she's having.
5.   You're gonna need a bigger boat.
6.   Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.
7.   If you build it, he will come.
8.   I see dead people.
9.   One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas.
10.  A  boy's best friend is his mother.
11.  Listen to them.  Children of the night.  What music they make.
12.  My precious.
13.  I feel the need - the need for speed.
14.  Nobody puts Baby in a corner.
15.  Fasten your seatbelts.  It's going to be a bumpy night.

Let me know how well you do!

P.S.  Sorry for the lame-o post.  It's been one of those days.

  1. The ones I knew, I knew. The ones I didn't, I didn't :) I have a pretty decent memory, but I'm not a movie person. I'm pretty sure the ones I knew were all on TV at some time or I probably wouldn't have seen them either! Lol!

    I knew:

    3
    4
    7
    8
kind of 11... I had an idea, but not exactly
    12
    14
    15

So about 50% (I should have known 5 and 10 too but I didn't recognize the quotes. I also don't think I've watched those two films in their entirety. - Great lines!)

    15. I'm pretty sure I've watched this one, but I didn't remember the quote.

I failed this quiz. But I loved the post. I am now movie wiser. I had "one of those days" today as well..hence the random post.
P.S. "Here's to you, Kid." (That line gives me butterflies every time.) Oh Humphrey!

  3. I'm good on 1,2,4,6,7, & 12 so 40 %. How could you possibly label this as lame? In baseball, 6 for 15 is red hot, so I'm ahead of the game. Thanks for a smile.

  6. 2 is "In the Heat of the Night"; 6 is Lou Gehrig, I think, but I forget the movie. I will tune back in to see the rest. Such fun. And yes, there are verification words at this site, but we don't mind. :)

  7. 1. What we've got here is failure to communicate. It's Jack Nicholson but can't name the movie.
    2. They call me Mr. Tibbs. Sidney Poitier in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner I think.
    3. You can't handle the truth! Nicholson again A Few Good Men
    4. I'll have what she's having. Rob Reiner's mom in When Harry Met Sally
    5. You're gonna need a bigger boat. Richard Dreyfuss in Jaws.
    6. Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth. It's a baseball movie - Pride of the Yankees or something? and I only know it because Meg Ryan quotes it in Sleepless in Seattle.
    7. If you build it, he will come. Field of Dreams
    8. I see dead people. Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense
    9. One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. Out of Africa? Total guess.
    10. A boy's best friend is his mother. You got me there.
    11. Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make. No idea.
    12. My precious. Gollum in Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring
    13. I feel the need - the need for speed. Maverick and Goose in Top Gun
    14. Nobody puts Baby in a corner. Worst line in Dirty Dancing
    15. Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night. Gosh, I've heard this one but can't place it.

And thanks to my husband for helping me put a couple names to movies. Pays to be married to a younger man when my memory starts to go.

  8. The only ones I know for sure are #4 When Harry Met Sally, # 7 field of Dreams, and #8 The Sixth Sense. That's it. Though after reading Sarah's reply above, I can hear jack Nicholson saying #1 .....

  9. Number one may have been Jack Nicholson at some point in time, but the warden at the prison where Paul Newman (Cool Hand Luke) was incarcerated, is the guy who made that phrase famous. Any time the prisoner(s) did something wrong, there was obviously a "failure to communicate." Now for the most important question from that movie: could someone really eat fifty boiled eggs at one sitting?
