Yesterday we shut down the office for a half hour and went across the street to the courthouse, where one of our attorneys was sworn in as a new superior court judge. Very nice, but whatever. When we got back, someone had delivered the most fabulous thing ever to touch these lips. All the way from St. Louis. If any of you are from Missouri, you might know where I'm heading with this.
GOOEY BUTTER CAKE
We get lots of things delivered to our office by clients, especially this time of year. But I say in all sincerity that this tops them all. Who could have known that cream cheese, sugar and butter could meld together to create this heavenly, luscious, divine miracle of angelic yumminess.
And now, if you'll excuse me, I need to pack my bags. I'm moving to St. Louis. (As soon as I come down from this sugar high, that is.)
Now you have me wanting some....as I am looking up a website to make an order!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy, just what I need..more sugar!
I had so much sugar yesterday - I felt I needed to not be so sugar-greedy :). Hope you enjoy it!!
DeleteI've never had it, but I've heard of it! Maybe my next road trip should be to St. Louis....
ReplyDeleteI love whipped cream and buttercream frosting and all those type desserts - - the gooey butter cake didn't look like something that would wow me, but I was totally wrong. Definitely worth a road trip!
ReplyDeleteI was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, in Missouri, for ten weeks. In their infinite wisdom, "they" sent forty of us from Los Angeles, during the months of January, February and March. I was never so cold in my life. I would have welcomed some of this "heavenly, luscious, divine miracle of heavenly yumminess," while sleeping out in fifteen degrees below zero, while on bivouac. Thanks for letting me know there is something in Missouri, besides cold and ice. After all, I am sure the nice drill sergeants would have been happy to provide only the best, had we known of its existence...
ReplyDeleteThat must have been a tough ten weeks, Mark - - you still remember it with such fondness :)
Deletecan't help but think that you all things considered it is simply a good thing that you do not live in Belgium with chocolates and bakeries all over the place
ReplyDeleteyou might not be able to come down from your high .. :)
I would LOVE to at least visit Belgium and gorge myself on your wonderful chocolates and pastries :) But then I'd probably have to buy two seats on the plane back!
DeleteMeet me in St. Louis. ;) (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
ReplyDeletecute :)
DeleteMeet you there then!
ReplyDeleteOkay, it's a date, Larissa!
Deletenever heard of it...but with a name like that how could you possibly go wrong?
ReplyDeleteA seriously great name, isn't it?!
DeleteNever had that cake, but it sounds delightful...
ReplyDeleteI kinda wish that I had never had it either :)
DeleteI saw Paula Dean make one of those on Food Network. Looks sinfully good!
ReplyDeleteI love Paula Deen and ANYTHING she makes!!
Deleteok, that sounds awesome...damn you, diet!
ReplyDeleteDiet is a four-letter word :)
DeleteIt is that time of year I guess - I work for some attorneys and have just finished arranging the Christmas cookies campaign so I am so sick of eating them, lol

There's ALWAYS stuff here to eat - - no matter what time of year. Which is really nice of the attorneys to do, but it also really sucks!
DeleteI live in Missouri but I have never heard of it. Huh.
ReplyDeleteYou spend too much time in your restaurant! haha
DeleteI would have thought those ingredients would make such a lovely goodness but I haven't ever had that cake....... ohhh excuse me I was lost in thoughts of cake!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good place to be lost :)
DeleteI don't think I've had a Butter Cake before. It look delicious! Sounds like you had a nice 12-12-12! :)Meet Me in St Louis is one of my favorite movies! Enjoyed reading your post, although the pic and talk of cake probably just added 5 lbs!
ReplyDeleteI thought of you the other day when I was watching the news and saw the big explosion in WV. Fortunately, nobody hurt. And, I know - - sometimes the pounds seem to just adhere without much effort!
DeleteThough I lived in St. Louis my whole life (besides college) until this August, I only tried the stuff about a year ago.
ReplyDeleteLOVE at first bite!!!
