Meet Me In St. Louis

I don't usually get all gushy and gooey over food - - or at least gushy and gooey enough to write about it.   But yesterday I had the most delicious melt in your mouth yummy goodness.

Yesterday we shut down the office for a half hour and went across the street to the courthouse, where one of our attorneys was sworn in as a new superior court judge.   Very nice, but whatever.   When we got back, someone had delivered the most fabulous thing ever to touch these lips.   All the way from St. Louis.   If any of you are from Missouri, you might know where I'm heading with this.

GOOEY BUTTER CAKE

We get lots of things delivered to our office by clients, especially this time of year.  But I say in all sincerity that this tops them all.   Who could have known that cream cheese, sugar and butter could meld together to create this heavenly, luscious, divine miracle of angelic yumminess.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I need to pack my bags.  I'm moving to St. Louis.   (As soon as I come down from this sugar high, that is.)

  3. I love whipped cream and buttercream frosting and all those type desserts - - the gooey butter cake didn't look like something that would wow me, but I was totally wrong. Definitely worth a road trip!

  4. I was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, in Missouri, for ten weeks. In their infinite wisdom, "they" sent forty of us from Los Angeles, during the months of January, February and March. I was never so cold in my life. I would have welcomed some of this "heavenly, luscious, divine miracle of heavenly yumminess," while sleeping out in fifteen degrees below zero, while on bivouac. Thanks for letting me know there is something in Missouri, besides cold and ice. After all, I am sure the nice drill sergeants would have been happy to provide only the best, had we known of its existence...

    1. There's ALWAYS stuff here to eat - - no matter what time of year. Which is really nice of the attorneys to do, but it also really sucks!

    1. I thought of you the other day when I was watching the news and saw the big explosion in WV. Fortunately, nobody hurt. And, I know - - sometimes the pounds seem to just adhere without much effort!
