Oh For Heavens Sake!

I have nothing earth shattering today.   Nothing life changing.  Nothing profound.   Nothing thought provoking.    If you want profound, beautiful, thought provoking messages today, I guess you should visit TangledLou.   I wish I could write like her, but, alas, I'm just a mere mortal, and sometimes this mortal brain has nothing much going through it.

My husband and I had dinner with my sis-in-law and her family yesterday.  She has four children, ranging in age from 14 to 5.   We were sitting around the dinner table and my husband was talking about how school was going so far.   He mentioned that there were a few kids who were already having trouble.   One of them is a kindergartener.  Every day when his dad drops him off at school he cries.   And cries.   And cries.  (The kindergartener, not the dad.)    My 8 year old niece heard this and said, with a disgusted tone, "Oh for heavens sake!!".    This is the same 8 year old who showed me where the bathroom was and said, "Don't forget to use the spray."    Oh, for heavens sake!

I brought my husband lunch today.   Afterwards, I walked out to my car, which was parked in front of the school.   A Subaru Outback pulls up, with radio blaring, the boom boom boom from the speakers filling the street.   It was rap.  I hate rap.   Anyway, The car parks, and the driver gets out.    To my surprise, it was an old (and I mean O.L.D.) lady.   First of all, it just seemed wrong in the first place to have that annoying boom boom boom coming from that particular car.  Second of all, . . . . an OLD LADY??!!   Oh, for heavens sake!

And that's all I got today.

  2. I wonder if I look old to the younger set. I don't care for rap myself. I hate BOOM BOOM BOOM anything. I wonder how anyone can be in the same car. I can hear it just fine from across the parking lot.

    1. I didn't mention that the old lady was walking to Walla Walla University, which is a Seventh Day Adventist college, which kind of makes it even more funny :)

  6. Maybe she was hard of hearing and that's the only thing that she COULD hear? Or maybe she's just cool..except that rap isn't cool--so nevermind. ;)

    1. Hey! She was probably deaf and didn't realize that her teenage grandson had "borrowed" her car the night before and left the radio blaring. That explains a lot. Thanks Lisa!

  7. how O.L.D. would you say she was?

    what do you listen to?

i feel the need to defend O.L.D. women, so i am wondering what someone Y.O.U.N.G.E.R. than you would think of your choice in music

back when i was really Y.O.U.N.G my parents thought my music choices were poor ..

i've learned to accept what others do and not judge unless i am willing to be judged in return

remember that old saw 'walk a mile in his/her shoes'?

  8. That's funny. I'm not a huge fan of rap either, only a select few will I ever listen to and mainly just because of my loyalty to my Michigan peeps. ;)

  9. What I love about life is how people continually defy our expectations. I see it all the time at work--when, for instance, a mohawked, tattooed 20-year-old is bonding with a 67-year-old ex-Hippie over the Beatles. It keeps things interesting, for sure.
