Help! Oh, wow, I almost got caught away just now in a Beatles frenzy fest. And when I touch you I feel happy . . . inside . . . it's such a feeling that my love I can't hide . . . I can't hide . . . I can't hide!!! . . . STOP!! Man, I think it's gonna be one of those days where I just break out in song. Be forewarned!
But I really do need your help . . . in October we celebrate our 25th anniversary. My husband also celebrates his 50th birthday in October. We need to do something to celebrate . . . uh, oh, I feel Cool and the Gang coming on . . .
There's a party goin' on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years
So bring your good times, and your laughter too
We gonna celebrate your party with you
Okay. This is getting ridiculous. Seriously, though. What should we do to celebrate? Keeping in mind that after going to Oklahoma twice to be with my mother, I have no vacation days left . . . and that after paying all our children's medical bills from this summer, we have no money left . . . there MUST be something we can do to celebrate!
IDEAS??????
All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.
And Thanksgiving and Christmas follow shortly thereafter..so..no financial blow out for this event. How about a combination anniversary/birthday/halloween bash come in custume pot luck we'll provide the celebration cake party? (and you do karioke)
ReplyDeleteI like - - well, except the karaoke :)
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! And happy birthday to your husband!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had ideas because I'm kind of in the same boat. It's my birthday and our sixth anniversary this Sunday and my husband's 53rd birthday next Tuesday. I/We have no ideas and little money. We'll probably just go out to eat one of those days. I'll be watching here to see what others suggest to you. :)
Happy anniversary in advance!
ReplyDelete25 is an important number. Are you artistic? You can make a sort of scrap-book of your marriage story. I did that on my sister's 20th birthday- sort of like her "story" with lots of pictures and inside jokes. Actually I'm not that much of an artist, it's pretty easy to make. And something that will always stay with both of you (as opposed to dining at a restaurant or something).
That is a GREAT idea! I'm not artistic, but maybe if I start now I can do it! Thanks!
DeleteI bet if you google 'free things to do' in your area, there will be a lot of stuff that comes up. Day trip to the Blue Mountains?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, so a silver anniversary and a gold birthday...hmmmm...I always need a theme to start anything! The scrp book is a great idea. One year my husband wrote a bunch of different memories with a black marker on white rocks from the beach and put them all in a jar.
ReplyDeleteAhh, I love that idea! Maybe 25 memories??!
DeleteI also like the scrap book idea. Another option is to spend a beautiful fall day going on a scenic walk and having a picnic. Whatever you decide, hope you both have a happy anniversary, and your hubby has a wonderful birthday! Julie
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie!
Deletesend the kids away, light a few candles, open a bottle of sparkling cider and go crazy
ReplyDeleteI like the crazy part :)
Deleteno money, no holidays... no party ! (just kidding of course)
ReplyDelete"There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in its hands".
Anni -- maybe we'll go to Belgium to celebrate! Oh, wait . . . no money no holidays! darn!
Deletehere you have your mission for your celebrations: figure out how to get here .. have your blog sponsored by ?? tell whomever you want to be on a Belgium mission to promote a product, to sell a new toothpaste;. whatever... com'n Judy, use your entrepreneurial imagination
DeleteThe year I turned 50 was also the year we celebrated 20 years of wedded bliss and the year our first born went off to college. I think we went over to the beach for the day but it was a milestone for me.
ReplyDeleteFor our 25th anniversary, I do believe I was in Hawaii and he was in California - long story but I had a family gig there and RR is not the Hawaii bound sort of guy. Actually, he's not the celebrating kinda guy at all , really. Dinner out or something light - I guess it's okay but sometimes I would like to acknowledge something with a little more umph. I'll be curious to see what you come up with!
Well, that's a lot going on! Happy Anniversary and Happy birthday to your husband. I'd look up some local things and put together a great date day/night. (Any inexpensive bed and breakfasts in your area?)
ReplyDeleteI guess you need to decide of you want to do the celebrations all together or separate. Get the kids involved with your husband's birthday. Ship them all off for your anniversary. BTW are any of them planning something for your anniversary, maybe as a surprise? Congrats to you both. I like the memories ideas. Get on pinterest.
ReplyDeleteAll we did for our 20th last year was go to the local La Quinta for two days. We're pretty boring when it comes to those things, usually just a movie and dinner. Hopefully, you'll come up with something better than that!
ReplyDeleteFor our recent anniversary, we celebrated by going on the sort of date we'd have done when we were first dating....it was sweet and kind of romantic and cheap since when we were first dating, we were in high school! We came home with smiles. Congratulations!
