Well, I've been neglectful of this blog the last week.
My husband and I went away this last weekend. Well, actually, it was only 26 hours :), but it was nice getting away and spending some time together. After his working 12 hour days for three weeks we thought it a good idea to run away! We didn't want to travel too far since we only had 26 hours, so we picked a local (45 minute away) hotel/resort/casino. I know. Casino. We don't gamble. When we lived in the Las Vegas area for three months, we about had our fill with casinos. Smoky, smelly, noisy casinos. The atmosphere isn't really my ideal vacation environment, but it really wasn't too bad. We had to walk through the casino to get to the fun stuff, but fortunately they had a "no smoking" gambling section and so we plotted a trail through that! The hotel had just been remodeled and the rooms were nice. It had a nice indoor pool and hot tub for my husband (me? not bathing suit material - - especially in public!! -- instead, I brought my Kindle).
We made our way to an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant, where we had brunch and then later dinner. And movie theater. They had a cineplex with five screens. Yea! So, we saw a couple of movies - Bourne Legacy and Diary of a Wimpy Kid!
It was just a nice, relaxing getaway. And we will do it again . . . every month . . . that is our goal. Go somewhere one weekend a month. Can't wait til September!
Getting away even overnight is always fun!! :) And YUM on the buffet!!!
ReplyDeleteI am finding out that just getting away (for however long) is the key :)
DeleteSounds wonderful! (:
ReplyDeleteIt was (except for the smoke) :)
DeleteWhat a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds delightful!
ReplyDeletePut the dang suit on and hot tub it missy!!
You sound like my husband :)
DeleteIf he loves you in a suit,I say go with it!
DeleteHey! good for you guys! GOing away every month could be good but it does, from where I sit, have to be close to home. Spending more than an hour getting there is the pits.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree - - although we might go two hours :)
DeleteI do the same thing. Even those short getaways are a blast, especially when you do it on the spur of the moment. It's adventurous but not always a homerun. Then again, that's what makes it exciting.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I saw "The Bourne Legacy" last week and enjoyed it. This week I watched "Expendables 2" which was fun.
I almost liked Bourne Legacy as much as the others . . . almost :)
DeleteSounds like a great time! I love the idea. Maybe I can copy it once the kids get a little older. ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, Dana - - our two children who are at home were thrilled that we were leaving the house for the weekend! haha
DeleteI SAY GOOD FOR YOU GUYS THAT IS GREAT WE DO THE BUFFET AT THE CASINO ON OUR WAY TO OUR HOUSE QUITE A BIT. I THINK THIS IS THE BEST EXCUSE FOR NEGLECTING THE BLOGGING :] SO HAPPY FOR YOU!
ReplyDeleteI always go for the desserts first :)
Deletegreat idea a 26 hr get-away ..
ReplyDeleteNext time we'll up it to 28 hours :)
Deleteah, glad you reappeared, just started to wonder what was going on in the state of Washington..
ReplyDeletesounds exactly like what I need but I do not know of any casino, resort, hotel, all you can eat, cineplex, hot tub, indoor pool etc .. within 45 minutes of where I am right now...
should look up how many minutes from here to a place that sounds like what you call "bliss"
Although, Anni, it wasn't really the place that made it bliss, it was just getting away - - - anywhere!
DeleteIt sounds perfect. So glad you got to do it, and plan to do it more often. Do you have a Hampton Inn very close by? Ours has a staycation package every winter. We haven't tried it, but it sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but Hampton Inn is my husband's favorite place to stay! We'll have to look into the staycation package :)
DeleteThat sounds perfect! And even better, planning to do it every month!! Glad you had a great anniversary celebration.
