We Are The Champions

Queen has nothing on me and my husband!  We need to leave the house by 7:25 each morning in order to get me dropped off at work, and Little Boy to school and my husband to work on time.  Fortunately, Little Boy's school and my husband's work are one and the same, so that cuts down on the time.   And normally, we do just fine.  After all, we have a very groovy alarm clock - - a dog who sleeps with us and moves around a lot (mostly moving her posterior in my face or sticking her feet in my ribs).  This morning, however, our alarm clock must have been exhausted because she never went off.   No rib poking, no nothing.   I  don't know what made me do it, but I woke up with a start and looked at the clock.  7:05!   Yikes!   We had 20 minutes before we had to leave!  We both needed to get in the shower.  We needed to get Little Boy up and dressed, which is a major effort all in itself (the getting up part).   Okay.   Shower?    check.   Clothes on with the tags in the back?  check.  Shoes on?  check.  Teeth brushed?  check.   Bed made?  maybe tomorrow.  Breakfast?  are you kidding?  (Okay, don't judge - - Little Boy eats breakfast at school.)

We did it!  We left the house at 7:25!  I had to put my makeup on at work, but other than that, no casualties.   If there was some TV game show or competition that involved getting an entire family out of bed, showered and dressed in the least amount of time, and walking out the door looking might fine, we would definitely be the victors!    Maybe tomorrow we'll have to get up at 7:06 and try to cut down on our time!    You never know when Bob Barker will be looking for a family for his new game show idea!

Ya baby!   WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

  1. Good thing you don't need to floss. Have you seen "Home Alone"? In the first one the family oversleeps and has to race to get to the airport on time. I bet the 3 of you looked a lot like that scene.

    1. It's really not as impressive as it sounds - bad hair day and I think I put my nylons on crooked!!

  3. Wow... you left a comment on my blog that said I was busy...NOTHING compared to you!!I am one step ahead of you when it comes to flossing- I mainly do it the three days before my appointment. I hope our dentists don't read our blogs... out true confessions might make us look bad.

  4. Wow. I'm impressed. I don't think I could have made that timing and I just have to take care of myself. You should get an award:)

    1. I think instead of an award I should just get a reliable alarm clock :)

  5. YOU WIN!!!! On lots of levels! I have to be at work around 7:30 too and I get up around 4:00.....not that it takes me THAT long to get beautiful enough to venture out of the house! Nn, mostly it's just stuff I like to do in the morning and I will do it even if I have to get up at 4:00....

    1. I wish I had the discipline to get up early like you do - I admire that a lot !! I would love to exercise and/or read in the morning.

  7. Wow! Good job getting everyone out the door in time. Especially with having Little Boy. It's not easy getting a kid to hustle that early in the morning!

  8. I remember those days and that weird sense of accomplishment that comes from waking up late and making it on time anyway. Now, Daughter-Only is the last one at home and she goes to school online. Hubby's work is purely "on-call." And I don't have to be to work until 3:30 p.m. except on Sundays, when I work at 8 a.m. The second shift thing has totally remade (and messed with) my sleep schedule, but the one way in which it's been a blessing is no frantic mornings.

  9. *That* is an awesome accomplishment! Around here some days it's like the Keystone Cops n' The Three Stooges running around bumping into one another at every turn!

  10. Ha ha. It's amazing the number of kids who casually stroll into school at the end of the first lesson with the excuse that they 'slept in.' I reckon your idea of a TV show might just be the solution. ;-)
