Potato

As in couch Potato.   And I'm not just a single Potato, I'm a whole bag full of Potatoes.   A 10 pound bag.    You know, watching Archie Bunker sit in his chair and just vegetate . . . well, I used to think he was just a big fat lazy slob.  But, I get it now.  I totally get it.   Maybe I'M just a big fat lazy slob.   But I understand the whole attraction to that chair . . . or, in my case, my corner of the couch.   Yes, I have my own corner.   And if you dare to sit in it, you will get the eye.  The evil eye.

But, lately I've been thinking that I should get up off my little corner of the couch every once in a while.  Move.  I'm not a big fat lazy slob.   Well, lazy sometimes . . . a little.   But after working all day long, my favorite thing to do when I get home is . . . nothing.

There really is nothing redeemable about being a couch bag of Potatoes.

So, I will try to change my mindset. I will sit less. Move more.   Little steps.   I will first become a 5 pound bag, instead of a 10 pound bag.   Then I will not be a bag at all.   Just a Potato.    Then a single french fry.   Maybe that will lead me to become an asparagus.

  1. LOL!! great post Judy. I spent a good portion of my life working so I know what it is to want to crash at the end of the work day.

    1. It's kind of pathetic how little I seem to get done at the end of the day :(

  2. My place to be is-and always has been-the kitchen table. Grading papers, reading the newspaper, watching the Giants through the archway, on the living room TV, and working on my computer. I guess I am more of a table tater.

    1. I love the kitchen table, too, Mark. Although I don't grade papers, or watch the Giants, unless they are playing the Dodgers :)

  3. I have become too much of a couch potato since retirement. I promised the dogs that I will get up and move more with them this spring.

    1. I look into my little dog's eyes every night I get home and VOW to go out with her! Poor baby! haha. She does have a big yard to play in, though. But there's nothing like having a human to play with!

  4. There's something to be said for couch potatoing...I try not to be. Unless you count sitting in my craft chair instead. Perhaps I should call myself a 'craft potato'.

    1. See, but you are accomplishing something as a craft potato! I'm not!

  8. Ha ha! I'm the same after a day at work - although for some reason I prefer to sit on the floor and only use the couch when I have visitors. Not sure why. :-)

    1. I can sit on the floor for a little while, but then it gets a little hard :)

I love asparagus. One of my favorite foods.

  10. As a 20-pound bag of potatoes, I totally admire your determination to become an asparagus.

    1. I don't think you're a 20 pound bag of potatoes. And I really don't think I'll become an asparagus, may just a corn cob (with a little curve) :)
