Yes, I said it!

I have never been one to intentionally hurt someone's feelings.  On the contrary, I go out of my way to NOT offend or hurt or maim or diminish or demean or . . . well, you know.  It's just not in my nature.   However, it's also not in my nature to do the PC thing.   I've been known to say "that's so retarded" (I know, I'm sorry).   When I see something stupid, I just can't seem to keep my tongue from moving.   I'm working on it, but so far no luck.

So, today, just a couple of thoughts . . . .

Happy Singles Awareness Day??!!!!   Seriously?????????    I'm sorry if you're single and don't want to be.  I feel for you.  I was single into my 30s and it kind of sucked.   But . . . today is Valentine's Day . . . NOT "singles awareness day".    Try to picture a second grade classroom today, happily and giggily passing out and getting valentines and candies to all their friends, and then putting them into these groovy bags that they decorated just for that purpose.  Eating heart-shaped, decorated and awesomely delicious cookies. That's a happy vision dancing around in my head.    Happy Singles Awareness Day??  Phffff!   Get your own day.

And since when did we, as citizens of this great country, stand by and let the media manipulate and distort "news?"  Since when is it "news" when someone takes a sip of water because their mouth is dry?   Since when does msnbc show someone taking a sip of water 138 times on a single day??!!!!!!!    Holy crap, people!!!!    Go chase some REAL news, will you??

That is so retarded.

    1. Maybe if we're lucky a little more stretching will break it!!

  4. I think Dr. Carson nailed this one at the Prayer Breakfast. We have HURT ourselves as a people and a nation by being too P.C. There is no place in the Bible (Old or New Testament) that we are called forth to be Politically Correct by God. He gives us many Commandments, but that is NOT one of them!!!

And I don't know who was in charge of placing Marco Rubio's water within easy reach, but that was an Epic Fail. However, it wasn't HIS fault, and the news outlets know it. This is just a cheap shot that the Liberal "News" Giants can keep taking and tell themselves they are reporting actual news. Word: That is NOT news.

    1. Agree, agree and agree! I do think, though, that even if the water bottle was placed closer to Rubio, it still would have had the same effect - i.e., "media" making it into huge, earth shattering news.

  5. I say, "That's retarded," all the time, too. My older kids get mad at me, and they yell at me for it. I've tried explaining that when I was growing up, we said 'retarded' when we meant 'stupid', and we DID NOT do so with the intention of being derogatory against people with learning disabilities or Down's or anything of the kind. I have a beautiful, smart, funny niece who is 16, and she has Down's. I would never say something to intentionally insult her! My kids don't get it, though. So I try to NOT say 'retarded', but it doesn't always word. ~sigh~

    1. Before my daughter left, I said "I need to stop saying retarded." She told me it was okay, that it was part of who I was. I'm not sure if that's good or not, but she totally got why I say it. But you said it exactly - - it's not meant to be derogatory against anybody.

  6. RAWR JUDY! :D I like this side of you! ;) And I'm with you! Singles awareness day, really? Is there a ribbon and a wrist band for that too? And are you sure it's singles awareness day or are we going to see a bunch of single people marching on the steps of the local Hallmark stores holding signs that read, "We're not single, we're relationship challenged!" ?? Ugh. And you're right about that whole drink of water thing.. Seriously? Like there isn't real news happening somewhere?? Yay you Judy. I LOVE this post. :)

  8. I have some friends on FB who are actually angry that people call Grumpy Cat by her nickname Tard, even though it stands for Tardar Sauce. I'm like, get a life. There has always been a Massachusetts coloquialism that I grew up with, as did Russell, which is 'That's so wicked retahded' (compensating there for the dropped R in the accent). That upsets people too.

    And Singles Awareness Day? PUH-LEASE!
