Bam!

I am back.   Sort of.   I was going to say I was back in the land of the living.   But I'm not  sure I'm quite there yet.   I spent some wonderful time with my daughter before she left.   I cleaned her room out yesterday and, in between tears, found little notes that she had left  for me.   Darn her!   I was doing pretty good, cleaning out from under the bed, and then BAM!!  I found a note.   I pulled myself together and did some more cleaning.   I opened her curtains and BAM!!   Another note.   This morning I got my makeup bag out (pointless, really) and BAM!!   Another note.   Thus, the pointless part.  Why bother putting on makeup if you're just going to get all emotional and cry it all off.

But, I will be okay.   And as the days go by, and she becomes fully ensconced in the work she set off to do, I will be able to put on my makeup once again.   Which I am sure the people around me will appreciate.    Because I am not the "isn't she a natural beauty" sort of girl.   More like, "wow, would you please put on some makeup - - no, MORE makeup" sort of girl.

Mañana, people.

  1. If you are going to use self-depricating humor about your looks you need to remove the picture on the sidebar.

  2. Not sure how that came out, but the intent was to compliment!

  3. Bless you, Judy. I am awed by the commitment it takes by the whole family to send a child out onto a mission. Prayers for her safe-keeping and your peace in the coming months. You're a good mom and a beautiful person (even without makeup, I'm positive.)

    1. Thank you!! And, by the way, I had to run out at lunch and buy some mascara at WalMart :) I figured I should at least TRY to not look like I'm dying inside!

  7. Being a mom... the toughest job in the world, and we wouldn't trade it for anything! My heart goes out to you, those little notes tell me what kind of daughter you've raised, and I know she will be just fine... so will you, one day at a time! Hugs and prayers for both of you! XOXO

  8. What a great daughter to leave the little notes. I wish you the best as you get used to her being away.

  9. I flat out do not believe you, Judy! about the makeup that is..... I think you are beautiful and make up likely only detracts from your natural beauty. Never mind that I think all people are beautiful! I just dont' think you have to cover up your sadness with anything! I can't imagine doing what you are doing but, then again, I don't have the faith life that you have. If you are supportive of your daughter in her mission (and I know you are), then I am happy for you. Even if you are not wearing stupid makeup.....

    1. I think it's such a wonderful quality to see all people as beautiful - I wish you had some magic dust to sprinkle from a mountain top so that we would all see through your eyes. I think you are awesome (as I've said before!).

  10. You may be finding notes for months. :)
That is so sweet. I'd cry and cry too. Invest in a good waterproof mascara.

  12. You did an absolutely marvelous job with your daughter - I can only hope to have such considerate and loving children one day. Come to think of it, wanna move in and help me raise these hellions? You'd do a far better job. Hang in there, mom!

    1. Uh, yeah. I am not the Epic Mom. I think your hellions will be just fine :)

  13. On my "lotion" post, did you see "Silence of the Lambs?" You would have to have seen that movie to get it. I have weird humor sometimes Judy.
