Who Would Have Thought??

I was just a little grossed out when I saw the prompt at Two Shoes Texas.   Earworm.  What's the first thing YOU think of when you see that word?!    If you were grossed out, then you probably thought of the same thing I did.   When my husband and I were first married every Saturday night we would watch the double feature on the SciFi channel.   Movies like "The Day The Zombies Came To Town," and "Blood On My Teeth," - - you know the kind.   Cheesy, bloody, mouths moving and not jiving with the dialogue.   We loved those.   Well, that's what I thought of when I saw "Earworm."   A cheesy, ridiculously stupid, sci fi movie.   That's how dumb I am, I guess.

Earworm:   a song or melody that keeps repeating over and over in your mind.

Who would have thought?

Although I highly suggest you NOT google images of "earworm."   Eww.

  1. I think we are all having that reaction and we can thank Alex for teaching us a new word this week, though I'm still thinking they could have labeled it something better. Nothing with "worm" attached can be a good thing...unless your a bird! :-) I was a little afraid to google it after you said that, but it wasn't so bad! :-) Have a great day, Judy, you made me smile!

  2. I didn't know that is what it meant. Apparently I get earworms all the time. Not sure I'll go around telling people that though.

  3. You mean you've never seen my Facebook posts, 'this is today's earworm' with a You Tube video? I did one on Sunday of 'You can call me Al' by Paul Simon.

  5. Curiously I had difficulty in relating to and writing for the prompt as I am truly untroubled by such pesky irritants. Perhaps it is because I am an irritating person in myself and they keep away from me! I like your take on the prompt to include bad movies that gnaw at you consciousness.

  7. Well, it's not a monster exactly, but it is terrible none the less! My son's goal every day is to get a song I don't love stuck in my head. Yesterday he pushed play to a TEN HOUR long video just as he left for school. I survived 14 minutes before I turned it off! No earworms for me, thank you very much!

  9. Earworms are the worst.. Mainly because they're some ridiculously ridiculous tune that gets stuck in your head foooorrreeevvver.. "Don't Worry Be Happy" is one of my least favorite earworms. And nope Judy, not even gonna' attempt to google it.. Just sounds disgusting..
