Sad, Psychopath or Just Indifferent

If you look at my sidebar, you will see that I have, yet again, signed up for the A to Z Challenge in April.   I am #119 (hmmm . . . maybe that's an omen about my weight).  Thanks to a little encouragement from my friend Lisa, I did the A to Z for the first time last year and had a blast.  I didn't expect it to be so much fun.  I was a novice blogger and not a very good writer.    I expected stress and . . . well, let me be honest . . . failure.   Neither!   Bam!     I have a little more time under my blogging belt this year, although I am still not a very good writer - - but I am looking forward to the challenge!

As a side note . . . my son and daughter and I went to the grocery store last night (different store from the sad, creepy deli guy store).   As we were leaving, my son reminded me of the time we had a cashier at this store who was so void of civility and emotion, almost a psychopathic-like demeanor.   Well, probably not a psychopath, but at least a personality disorder.   And, maybe she too was just sad.   And, more likely, maybe I just watch too much Criminal Minds.   But this just begs the question - - what is up with grocery store clerks????

  1. What do you think about the categories this year? I like them! Mainly so I can avoid the ones I already know that I wouldn't be interested in.

    1. I didn't sign up for a category. Maybe I should, although I'm not sure how I would consider myself! But you're right - - it IS a great way to not waste time . . haha

  2. I signed up, too! Now I have to think of a theme and cross my fingers that I'll have the time to participate in two writing challenges that month. :)

    See ya there! ;)

  3. I am going to throw this out there... I think one possibility is that the Job Situation is so bad that people are taking jobs for which they are not really suited just because they need *something.* However, it is really miserable to work a job you hate. Some people are not meant to mix with the General Public. It is just not a good fit, but that is what is available. They cannot get the job that they studied for, and so they feel trapped in a job they really dislike. At first they probably feel grateful for any job, but that wears off when they realize that they are mismatched with their job. Egads. Just a theory.

I am trying A to Z for the first time this year. I am thinking of writing at least some of my pieces ahead of time. I don't blog daily and think it might be stressful to all of a sudden have to write daily. So... As for the category thing, I really don't see my topic fitting into any of them. However, I agree with Lisa on the categories helping you know what to avoid. hahahaha. And helping you to know what you might want to read. So, it's all good:)

    1. Good point about the job thing, Robin. It's so hard to work at a job that sucks.

Last year I did all of my blog posts ahead of time . . . for me it was just easier and less stressful. I wonder if I can go back and choose a category??

  4. I signed up last year because of Lisa also! I'm numbers 20 and 21. I signed up my main blog as miscellaneous (MI) and my craft blog as crafts (CR) obviously.

  6. I did the Z-Z two years ago, and it was fun, but I also found it a bit confining and time consuming, because there were other things I wanted to blog about too. This week I'll be on vacation for a whole week in April... YAY... so I'm passing. I've promised my spouse that I won't be blog-obsessed while we're away. Note that I didn't say I wouldn't be around at all. :-)

    1. totally understand your husband wanting your attention while on vacation! haha! You could, though, write posts in advance and then just schedule them to be posted on the appropriate date! no pressure though :)

  7. Hahahaha! Omg.. I would love to go grocery shopping with you! I need to meet all of these whack job clerks! I always get the deaf mutes. I'm always chatty n' cheerful, "hi, how are you, I love your hair" blah, blah, blah and they just look at me with a dead stare..Hhhmm.. Now that you mention it, maybe they are psychopaths.. And speaking of which.. The A to Z Challenge.. I was sitting on the fence about doing it but you may have just pushed me over the edge.. Ugh.. I feel like if Judy jumps off of a bridge I'm gonna' jump on too! - Still pondering.. (Shaking head knowing I'm going to end up doing it..) ;)

  9. I guess I'll do A-Z too. I'm less enthused this year but we'll see. I have about 11 letters filled w/ topics and I could probably fill a bunch of others. We'll see. :)

  10. Based on your recent experiences, I'm thinking of transitioning over to PeaPod home grocery delivery.

Good luck with the challenge, nutty! I couldn't do that if you paid me.

  14. omgosh--it must be something to this--although i am not recalling any recent problem with my grocery store visits--my dream last night was all about my sitting down with the customer relations manager and proceeding to tell him all the things i thought they could improve on :)

  15. I need to sign up fort he A-Z again this year. Last year was my first year as well. I enjoy reading your posts so don't worry about not being "professional". I'm not very good at writing but I do love expressing myself and I'm learning more each time I do it. Isn't blogging more about being relatable (how do you spell that word? LOL) than being a professional writer? :)
