Alien-Free Basement
This morning I remembered once again why I love my little office in the basement. It has no window, this is true. But I do have a door to the outside world just a few feet from my office. I can simply get up, open the door, adjust my eyes to the light, walk up the concrete stairs, breathe fresh air and see what the weather is like. Then turn around and walk back down the concrete stairs into the dungeon - - I mean basement.
But, yes, I did rejoice when the head honcho attorney asked if I'd like to move downstairs. Yea! I said. I can listen to my radio as loud as I want. I can turn the a/c on - - even in the winter if I wanted. The kitchen is in the basement - - and the fridge is always stocked with tons of pop (or soda, depending on where you live). But the best perk of the basement? - - I don't have to be around a certain person who works upstairs! And everytime I go upstairs (that's where the bathroom is, and that's where my boss is) and see this person, I silently thank the head honcho attorney for letting me work downstairs.
And everytime I see this certain person, I think - - maybe the aliens HAVE landed. Or at least one of them.

I love the brighter side of this location!
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just gotta take poetic license! haha
DeleteYour office sounds pretty awesome!! I remember working in an office with a person who was trying on good days, and downright horrible on bad ones.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great place to work - - i've been here 11 years - - except for the one alien person who can ruin it for everyone at times :)
DeleteAn annoying co-worker can really destroy all the work atmosphere! Good riddance :)
ReplyDeleteFortunately for me, she can't annoy me anymore. But my friend sits next to her now and she is thinking of quitting because of her - grrrrrr
DeleteAll the advantages you have sounds great! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed pretty nice. Since I HAVE to work, I feel really blessed for my circumstances here at work :)
DeleteEasy access to the kitchen? Pff .. yeah definitely the best location to work. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been saying this for months now: The ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE has already begun--as evidence from the zombie upstairs! Run, Judy! Run!!
ReplyDeleteThere are way more zombies in Portland :(
DeleteLoud music- awesome, being away from disagreeable people- double awesome!
ReplyDeleteActually, I listen to talk radio! hahaha.
DeleteWorking with an Alien can certainly ruin your work experience..hence your day. Good thing you have an escape in the basement! Wish those Aliens would just stay home if they can't place nice with others! :)
ReplyDeleteIt would be better if I could stay home instead of Alien!!
DeleteSeems like a good fit for you then, to be "housed" during working hours in the basement. Seems like you could get a lot more peaceful work there done indeed!
ReplyDeleteMay you have a safe and happy Halloween tomorrow!
betty
Happy Halloween to you too!
DeleteI kind of wish they'd let me move into the basement at work. I'm sure I'd get so much more done without all the interruptions ... and that's where the snack machine is :D
ReplyDeleteSeriously, it is so nice not to have constant interruptions. That way I can eat my snacks in peace.
DeleteI would love the basement too -- EXCEPT it would kill me to have no window! My office window looks out on the front of the school but I also have an inside window which allows me to monitor the front desk - very handy when there are parents coming in that I don't want to see - I can hide out!
ReplyDeleteAround here, no matter what the brand, it's called coke.
haha! You sound like my husband - - so much easier to hide from certain parents when you can see them coming!
DeleteThose alien co-workers can really be something else! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou know it!
DeleteI can't get past the picture. I have a hard time imagining you with such wicked thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThe scissors? She had a string hanging from her shirt :)
