Follow You Follow Me

I'm not blogging because I want followers - - really.  It's just become a fun and even therapeutic thing to do . . . to say things that I normally wouldn't, to push myself, and to learn how to follow through on committments.    I'm really happy for those of you who DO follow me, though - - you have become friends and I feel honored that you drop in to see what I'm talking about.

But I think I must be doing something wrong, because just this month I have lost three followers - - I figure at this rate I will have zero followers by the year 2016!   And I guess that would be okay, because like I said, I don't write to see how many followers I can get.    But yet there's something ego deflating about losing the ones you already have.   And I don't have a big ego to begin with, so the little things like this really count - -  haha.   I know, I know.  Sometimes people just clean out their lists and drop those blogs that they really don't read.   It's nothing personal.    But it made me feel kind of personally sad when I saw the latest one disappear.

Oh dear!   Do you think the aliens are snatching up my followers and sucking their brains out?!

  1. I guess they don't enjoy a good thing when they read it! You still have a lot more followers than I do, but that's OK. I'm still slightly weirded out that others actually WANT to read what I post!

  3. Be aware of the random droppings that aren't initiated by readers! I've been dropped from people's blogs without consent! After a regular blogger doesn't appear in my roll, I have to re-join. Annoying!

  4. It's probably the aliens. And what Marianne said.

  5. Followers are a funny thing....we don't want to care about the numbers, but, we do. On the other hand, no body can regularly get to all the blogs they follow. It's a crazy system. Just write from your heart, what is good for YOU. That's a good blog.

  6. I'm still here and that's all that matters. lol. It happens, and just like you said, don't take it personal. I don't hardly ever blog anymore, so I'm surprised I haven't lost everybody.

  7. I saw my count go down by 1 and was so bummed. But on the other hand, I have stopped following a few blogs b/c after A-Z, I really couldn't relate to what they were doing, esp. when some of them went back to short stories they'd been writing. So I guess I should expect some people to unfollow me too from time to time. I like what mare ball said too. :) I like your bloggy so I won't be unfollowing you.

    1. My daughter read a comment you made on one of my posts and said "I really like JoJo!"

  8. So how does a person lose followers? I mean, really? If I didn't' want to follow you any more (which is SO NOT true) , what would I do? Is there some action I would take? Like an unfollow button? See, that just goes to show how naive I am!
Beats me why you would lose followers. Clearly you and I come from different places politically but you are always respectful (as I also hope I am) and my perspective is broadened by any sensitive posts you might write. Lots of your posts are just plain thoughtful, reflective, entertaining and/or funny. I like to read them and I always appreciate any comments you make on any of my goofy posts.

  9. I did a post a couple months ago and I lost a few followers right after that. Clearly I offended someone. I had been slowly losing 1 here or there. Yesterday I gained 1 though.
I must have missed your political thoughts, but that is no reason to unfollow. Just my opinion.
I know some people that don't follow me, but they have stopped by several times. For all my followers, I don't seem to have a lot of people reading regularly.

  10. I actually dropped 3 followers of mine because they just do not write anymore personal blogs it is all reviews of topics that I do not like certain DIY but we had never had any communications either. But My peeps like you that I adore & write such interesting pieces I would die to lose or quit following so you are safe with us people of good taste ~Janice~

  11. Maybe they didn't like the October haunted theme. In any case, who cares? This blog is about you! Not your followers!

  12. I've had that happen to but I try not to worry too much about that. My daughter gets on to me, reminding me that comments and followers are not why I started blogging in the first place. But I agree with you, it's really fun to have the followers and comments! I'm not going anywhere!

  13. I always try to convince myself that the unsubscriber has deleted their account or something. I have no idea if that's how it works, but it makes me feel better.

  14. I think it's happening to others, and agree with Kellie could be some are deleting. I try not to take it too personal. :) I also learned that blogger only allows to follow 300 blogs. :/

  15. I always hope it's a follower that wasn't really following: someone who never commented and was just a number! It's a bummer, anyway you look at it.
