I don't usually write on the weekends . . . mainly because we don't have a computer at home. But yesterday I was reading a story online about a couple of really stupid people, and I had to comment. I know. There are a lot of stupid people, and they all have stories. But these stupid people just seemed so "special" to me. You see, they were getting married. How exciting! I remember when I was planning my marriage and how magical it was . . . aaaah.
This couple went to the courthouse to get married. And there is nothing wrong with that. Lots of people do it that way. It's cheaper than a big wedding, and it's just as legal. The problem with this couple's plan, however, is . . . they left their three children at home - - alone. Which, I guess, if the children were old enough to take care of themselves, wouldn't have been a big deal. But, of course, these people aren't stupid for nothing. Their children were ages 1, 2 and 3. Do one year olds even walk yet? Can two year olds make lunch? Can a three year old change the one year old's diaper?
Anyway, a couple of things struck me about this stupid couple. First, they have three children - - SO WHAT'S THE BIG HURRY???!!!! They couldn't wait a few minutes to call a babysitter??! And second, THEY HAVE THREE CHILDREN!!!! Call me old fashioned or narrow minded or judgmental (and I'm sure some of you will), but shouldn't the wedding have come FIRST????
A neighbor discovered the children home alone and called the police. So, you see, it all ended okay. The children were taken care of and DIDN'T DIE because they were left home alone, and the parents got a lovely honeymoon, all expenses paid - - in jail.
STUPID PEOPLE!!!
I AM SO TIRED OF STUPID PEOPLE.
Oh dear... Is there any chance that the three children might have inherited a latent 'not stupid' gene?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it skips a generation.
DeleteWorse than stupid...idiots.
ReplyDeleteStupid idiots maybe??!
Delete*shakes head* How can people like them be allowed to procreate is beyond me. Poor kids.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. Poor kids.
DeleteI seen this also but I just couldn't bring myself to reading it ;[
ReplyDeleteI am getting more disgusted daily by the ignorant!
Have a great weekend Judy :))
Thanks! You as well :)
DeleteGiving them the benefit of the doubt, the kids might have been from previous marriages, but there's absolutely no excuse for leaving them alone at home!
ReplyDeleteYou are right - the children COULD be from another marriage - I jumped to the natural assumption (which is probably true, but still - my bad!). But to leave them alone is just plain stupid.
DeleteOh my! I kind of hope each of those three children has another (more logical) parent in the mix elsewhere!
ReplyDeleteFor sure, Andrea!
DeleteWow. As my fiance' says, 'you can't fix stupid'. Unreal. And they couldn't have taken the children with them because......? Wouldn't you WANT your children at your wedding, no matter how small or how large or in a cathedral or in city hall?????
ReplyDeleteWell, I would want my children there, but who knows what goes through some people's brains :)
DeleteIt's always children that suffer from the stupidity of adults. If we just hurt other adults it would be bad enough, but kids can't even stand up for themselves.
ReplyDeleteIt's always so much more hurtful when it's children.
DeleteUnbelievable. I still don't even like leaving my 14 year old home alone.
ReplyDeleteHaha - I'm sure a lot of us can relate to that :)
ReplyDeleteThis is probably really shallow of me, but hearing stories like this make me feel better about my own screwed-up life. Providing, of course, that the innocents aren't hurt in any way. I mean, sure...my family is totally dysfunctional; however, we've never done anything as stupid as leaving a 3-yo to look after his 2-yo and 1-yo siblings.
ReplyDeleteKelly, you crack me up! I'm not the perfect parent either, but I've never done anything THAT stupid :)
DeleteOh my gosh, I saw that...yes, VERY stupid people, and I totally agree with EVERYTHING you said. I'm a bit old-fashioned with the idea of getting married FIRST! Where has that gone.
ReplyDeleteGood question - kind of sad.
ReplyDelete*sobs* This is the world I am to go out and face. Heaven help us all. ...
ReplyDeleteNo, Larissa - this is the world you are to go out and CHANGE!
Deletethank goodness their honeymoon was interrupted! It might have resulted in more kids.
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteRidiculous.
ReplyDeleteI was one of those people who had a child and was pregnant with the 2nd when we got married. We weren't ready before that and I am only getting married once.
But you probably didn't leave your child alone when you went off to get married, yes?!
Deletenothing like a good neighbor
ReplyDeleteIt's always amazing how ridiculous people can be. Common sense isn't that common.
