Too Many Letters in the Alphabet

Okay, I'm getting a little nervous about this A to Z blogging challenge I've committed to for April.   You know, one day write about something that begins with A, and write everyday thereafter going down through the alphabet, all the way to Z.  Crap!  I'm starting to feel panicky.  I'm not very good under pressure.   Why did I commit to this?   What was I thinking??!    But, I DID sign up for it, and I will follow through, even though I haven't the slightest idea about topics.   I was thinking about it this morning - - whether or not I should plan ahead of time and list out what I would write about each day.  I'm kind of a shoot-from-the-hip kind of blogger, but maybe it would be easier to have it all figured out before.

So, for the letter A, all I could come up with is "Alligators."   Not the kind that will play and romp and roll with you . . . and then eat you with their gigantic sharp teeth.   No, not that kind.   The kind in one of our local bakeries.   It's kind of a creme puff, but heartier.   It's shaped in a long triangle, and I guess if you use your imagination it kind of looks like an alligator's head.   It's filled with lots of whipped cream, and has about three pounds of chocolate frosting on top - - with two M & Ms to look like eyes.  I'm sure some of you are ready to reach for your insulin, but I like that kind of thing.  That's not the problem.  My problem is this - - with all the "A" things in the world, my cream filled, enough-sugar-to-slip-you-into-a-coma baked good is the only "A" thing I could think of - - how pathetic is that?   And if I start down that path, does that mean I write about bagels, and then cinnamon toast crunch, and then donuts . . . and on and on?   (You'll notice I stopped at "E" because "E" is a hard letter.  I don't like hard.)    Sigh.

What's a girl to do?

  1. Trust me, it's easier to plan ahead a preschedule your posts. I've done it both ways and my first year, the topics were all over the map and I struggled. My Q was Q*Bert - how lame is that?

    1. Well, Alex, you ARE an expert at this particular thing, so, I'm thinking I may have to defer to your experience and start making a list :)

  2. But Judy, what are you talking about? That's classic! I would give you huge marks for creativity, liveliness, and originality. Shoot, I know about the other kind of alligators. Yawn. No way, give me those whipped creamed, frosting-laden, M&M eyed, alligator heads, and we are talking some serious interest here. But what do I know?

  7. I think your A entry is perfect! A little off beat and that's why I like it. I am going to do the challenge but have not officially signed up yet - my way of avoiding the commitment. I have three posts already written and a ton more in my head. I favor random - none of this theme business for me. Ha! I am going to be all over the place.

  8. I'm a shoot from the hip kinda blogger and I have to say I did pretty well last year. Q was, well Q from Star Trek and X was X-ray. Those were the hard letters. I have had comments from bloggers about picking words out a dictionary.
I think Alligator is great. It is original.

  11. I've had the same anxiety. I wrote a list the other day, A-Z and a couple words for each letter. I'm not much of a planner where my blogging is concerned, but I may have to be that month. And these people who've already written a couple posts? Wow. I am NOT that organized or prepared. Ever.

  12. I was going to say Eclairs, and eggs (and egg creams), but since those two were already mentioned, how about Entenmanns? Or "extra" anything. Extra cream, extra crispy, extra fries... :)

  14. Hi! - I found you on Blogher NaBloPoMo blog roll and I'm happy I did. You got me thinking about this A to Z challenge.. I've done this before on my old blog (totally revamped and started anew this year) and it's difficult, even for a mouthy Italian woman who is never at a loss for words! That being said.. I may double tag my blog and do both the A to Z and the March NaBloPoMo too! What a challenge! I wish you luck and I'd appreciate you RAINING luck on me! Here's to blogging! Cheers!

  15. Looking forward to your April posts. I am very tempted to try it myself, but I am too easily intimidated...for all the reasons you mentioned.
