Fix Your Stupid Bottles

As I sit here I am trying to squeeze the hand lotion from my pump bottle.   My hands are really dry, and I need that lotion.   But I'm down to about the last one-third and it won't pump out anymore!   It's so frustrating.   It's expensive stuff (for me, anyway) and since I PAY for the entire bottle, I should be able to USE the entire bottle, not just the first two-thirds.   So, I have taken the top off and am now shaking/pounding it trying to get the lotion to come down so I can reach inside with my fingers and try to harvest some of the remaining lotion.   This is difficult, though, because the lotion is  thick and won't drip down the sides of the inside of the bottle very easily.  I have red marks on my hands the shape of the bottle opening.  Maybe if I keep pounding the bottle against my hands they'll start bleeding and provide the moisture I need to keep my dry hands from ripping apart everything they touch.

The directions say "apply liberally as often as needed."   Well, okay, I would but I can't get it out of the bottle!   What kind of directions are on the bottle about that??!   Huh?!   ARE YOU LISTENING, HAND LOTION MAKING PEOPLE????    FIX YOUR STUPID BOTTLES!!

  1. cut the bottle open .. then put the whole thing in a plastic bag so it doesnt dry up ... I refuse to buy anything in a pump dispenser its wasteful... either the pump dies/gets clogged or you get to the point where you cant get to what remains .. obnoxious ...

  2. I buy the smaller bottles without the pump for that very reason. It's a little more expensive than the bigger bottle, but I can turn it upside down and get the last drops. I hate to see pump thingys on anything.

  3. I'm a slow learner - - no more pumps for me :)

  4. I think they do that on purpose so you buy more of their product. I'm not above scraping every last drop out, though. Hope your hands feel better.

  5. I had the same problem this week. It's quite annoying. Leave the bottle upside down during the night, in the morning the cream will have finally gotten close enough to the edge to scrape it.

  6. I'm with Daryl. Cut the bottle open. I started doing that with everything once I realized how much product is left in containers. If the bottle can't be cut/sawed, then swish some water inside. Watered down lotion will probably still work well enough.

  7. Another thing - when they make the actual plastic bottle heavy. So that you think there's a lot more lotion in there. It's a trick, I say, a TRICK. :)

  8. I try to avoid the pump lotions, but it was on such a great sale! I bought it and I'll regret it next week, which is when I think the lotion will be too low to pump.

  9. I definitely cut the bottle open, i also add water and shake it vigorously - that helps. I have been washing my hands about 20 times a day to avoid catching the crud that is goine - talk about red and dry. About half the time I use some of that hand sanitizer stuff - handy when you are working the office and you don't have time to run back to the sink (but you've just handled the lunch and backpack of the kid who just threw up....

  10. Well, if you can't get it out today, I hope you think of propping it up for tomorrow.

  11. II hope they heard you. Even the bottles without the pumps horde that at least enough to use for another 4 days! That goes for shampoos and conditioners as well.
