I tried to read up about Mormons and the LDS religion to better understand what was going on in his life, but there is SO MUCH shit out there that doesn't make sense! I ended up just talking to him about it, which was way easier & a hell of a lot more informative.

:-)

BTW, come by and see what you've won!Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05235688815855167839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790267042141485205.post-52257576057238400792012-06-18T17:45:57.897-07:002012-06-18T17:45:57.897-07:00Thank youThank youCarrie Lynnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08614716651049561717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790267042141485205.post-92222939348395431702012-06-18T08:17:52.297-07:002012-06-18T08:17:52.297-07:00Janice, thank you for this!! I choose to not judge people on their religion at all. To me, that's never even a factor that comes into play at all - It's a part of who a person is and where they come from. there should be no disrespect whatsoever because of someone's faith and religious beliefs.viewfromdownherehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06617837422220577661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790267042141485205.post-30261605912920117892012-06-14T12:24:14.960-07:002012-06-14T12:24:14.960-07:00Us History is taught in the eighth grade; hence th...Us History is taught in the eighth grade; hence the history of the expansion of the western borders includes the fleeing to Utah of the original members of the Mormon Church. California Standards specifically detail the need for teachers to teach and emphasize the role of religion in the world cultures taught in sixth and seventh grades, and also the role of religion in the founding of our own nation. It's all good and it all has relevancy for teaching tolerance.Mark O'Neillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16295762252612104201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790267042141485205.post-38877577670608772922012-06-14T08:52:04.893-07:002012-06-14T08:52:04.893-07:00It's interesting that Mormon history is taught...It's interesting that Mormon history is taught in the 8th grade . . .hopefully the facts are correct! hahaha

So glad Annie got to listen to the Tabernacle Choir . . . they are inspiring, religion notwithstanding :)Judyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16917139752555698353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790267042141485205.post-79745207940386517562012-06-14T08:44:02.087-07:002012-06-14T08:44:02.087-07:00I can only think of one Mormon acquaintance, and s...I can only think of one Mormon acquaintance, and she one of the most accepting and gentle of souls. I do not compare religions. Having already written and posted a piece about my being a recovering Catholic, I welcome your view. On anything.

Eighth grade curriculum requires that we teach about the role of the Mormons in our history. I have always been profoundly affected by the rich history of this maligned group, persecuted because their religion was not the same os others'. And Annie returned from a week-long quilting conference to Salt lake City a year ago, marveling at the rich history of the city and its people. She listened to the famous choir practice, and came home filled with anecdotes about her week.Mark O'Neillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16295762252612104201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790267042141485205.post-21301972573204695882012-06-14T08:22:32.955-07:002012-06-14T08:22:32.955-07:00Thanks for stopping by, Linda! Thanks for stopping by, Linda!Judyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16917139752555698353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790267042141485205.post-19759332814367612222012-06-14T08:06:02.493-07:002012-06-14T08:06:02.493-07:00I just came across your blog today and was intrigu...I just came across your blog today and was intrigued by your post. It just seems common for Mormons to have large families (the boy that worked for us had 8 siblings and the older kids in his family all had at least 5 kids or more, he said it was a birth control preference) He said all of their friends were the same way so I wondered if it were similar to Catholicism.
Children are a blessing for sure but I only had energy and time for 2.Funny in My Mindhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07281231657407206988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790267042141485205.post-87337846584812618422012-06-13T21:40:16.329-07:002012-06-13T21:40:16.329-07:00I gave you an award!
